CSK losing despite the brilliant finish from MSD, it was the highest IPL score for MSD in the last 10 years but MSD heroics not enough to put CSK passed Kings XI. CSK were the favorites with strong second chase finishers in the last 4 overs but good thinking from captain Ashwin with a brilliant run out of Rayudu and a great catch high up in the air kept the game on Kings XI side. MSD injuring his back while taking a quick second run had to take some painkillers and massage to get back on the game.
It was a match from 2 cool guys playing against each other MSD and Chris Gayle, Chris Gayle playing his first game of IPL season 2018 gave a blistering start of 63 off 33 deliveries alongside KL Rahul, KL Rahul was in good form delivering again with useful contributions from KK Nair and Mayank Agarwal. The total expected from Kings XI was around 210-220 but CSK bowlers did pretty good in taking wickets and restricting the King XI batsmen under 200.
Kings XI maintained constant pressure in this game against CSK with MSD mentioning that Mujeeb was the difference in the middle overs when CSK’s asking rate jumped upto 18 runs per over, CSK batsmen were not able to pick Mujeeb and the match went down to the wire of the last over. MSD was in his old vintage style scoring fours and sixes with anything slightly short or within his batting arc. It was very difficult to bowl the last 4 overs to MSD, even straight yorkers were dispatched to fours and sixes which is why he is called the greatest finisher of the game in any format.
