Mumbai Indians falls short of win against RR, RR wanted a win as much as MI did but in the end RR succeeded. It was another last over finish with MI setting up a low score of 167. MI won the toss and decided to bat first because they wanted to set a big target for RR to chase but things did not turn out that way, It was a slow start but Ishan Kishen and SK Yadav put up a terrific partnership of 129 runs, 2nd wicket was lost in the 15th over. Scoring run rate in the last 5 overs dropped from 10 runs per over to 6 runs per over. MI middle order fell to some fantastic bowling from IPL debutant Jofry Archer, RR bowlers restricted MI to a get able target.
RR started off slowly with the opening pair getting out quickly but Sanju Samson and Ben Stokes slowly got the RR on track with some extremely careful and watchful innings from the two without taking much risk. some quick wickets fell and the tail was exposed, In the end K Gowtham batted extremely well to score 33 runs off just 11 balls. Again MI bowlers did very well to restrict RR from scoring freely but in the end the target was so low that RR were able to get over it.
Great day of cricket today, MI still need to learn from their mistakes. They need some confidence and start winning some games to be in contention for the semi finals. They have a good squad and need to execute, your thoughts?
