It was a great first match with nail biting finish between 2017 IPL Champions Mumbai Indians Vs Chennai Super kings, Chennai super kings were back from a 2 year layoff with a bang. Kedar Jadhav was brilliant at the tail end of the match with a super duper one legged finish but it was a special innings from DJ Bravo that won the match for CSK single handedly, bravo playing against his former team mates after bowling an excellent spell giving away only 12 runs in his last 3 overs at the death saving about 20-25 runs being given away to the opposition. He was magnificent with the bat as well after coming in lower in the batting order when his team was in trouble when KM Jadhav retired hurt at 83/5, bravo batted carefully and exceptionally well with the tail end batsmen hitting 7 sixes and 3 fours, 3 sixes were hit against the best T20’s bowler JJ Bumrah,he started punishing bowlers after settling in hitting fours and sixes with unbelievable innovation, bravo carried CSK almost home from 118/8 but was caught at mid-off by Rohit sharma needing just 7 runs off 6 balls.
With 9 wickets down, Jadhav had to come back and bat with a hamstring injury, he said he talked to Imran Tahir and told him that he wouldn’t be able to run but wait for the right balls to finish the match. With a strange field setting where there was no deep fine leg and no deep third man, Kedar Jadhav held his nerves without scoring a run for the first 3 balls, but he sensed an opportunity when the bowler was bowling at the same area, he said he took his chances playing a scoop shot to deep fine leg for a six to level the scores. The next ball from Mustafizur was overpitched and outside off, Jadhav uses the the crease, and smacks it through the covers for four. What a finish from Bravo and Jadhav, CSK is back with a bang after being in trouble, down at the very end of the match to finish off with a great start of the season
