Kings XI and Delhi Daredevils both were trying hard with new captains to make their first impression but Kings XI succeeded chasing second, first 6 overs were crucial and took the game away from DD with KL Rahul getting the fastest T20 fifty off 16 balls, 165 was the total needed which according to captain Gautam Gambhir was a good total to defend but the new teammates KL Rahul and Karun Nair batted beautifully to get home successfully.
Missing Maxwell captain Gautam Gambhir batted beautifully for DD with Pant and Morris contributing well to set a good total, Kings XI on the other hand did a great job in restricting DD to a total of 165. Mujeeb ur Rahman making his dream debut in IPL did well in his debut match giving away only 28 runs taking 2 wickets in his quota of 4 overs, captain R Ashwin was the most economical giving away only 23 runs. Ashwin bowled superbly well with control bowling offbreaks, legbreaks, carrom balls and flippers.
