DD registered their first win of the season, it was a high scoring game with MI opening batsman scoring 84 runs. Captain Rohit Sharma making a batting order change with SA Yadav coming into open instead of himself scoring 50 off 29 balls worked well for MI, but in the end DD were able to restrict the MI at the death overs. Reducing the expected total of 220-235 to 194 was excellent from DD with Shami, Christian and Boult bowling smart not giving enough whip.
It was DD’s day with Jason Roy coming in for Munro restored the faith bestowed upon him to take on the MI bowlers to the stands, very dominant against the best bowlers of MI taking on Markande and Hardik Pandya by destroying their bowling figures, Jason Roy went onto to finish the innings but the match went down the wire until the last ball. MI could not capitalize on their chance dropping catches at the end costed them dearly. RR Pant was excellent with the bat contributing well with Jason. In the end SS Iyer and Jason finished off well by hanging in there and taking their chances.
Good start for DD this season with good performances in both batting and bowling, they have a good chance to qualify for the knockouts this season. Your comments?
