MI needed a desperate win but CSK were favorites to win but in the end MI edged in to secure their second IPL win of this season, it was a match of ups and downs. CSK were put into bat first by MI’s captain Rohit Sharma saying they needed a target to score on this pune ground, the wicket was two paced, it was skidding and not coming on to the bat nicely. CSK started off with in form Rayudu and Shane Watson, Watson was dismissed in powerplay but Raina and Rayudu batted beautifully for the second wicket and were on course for a huge target but Rayudu fell in the 12th over, then Dhoni took the reins but could not capitalize on the opportunity due to some good bowling in the middle overs by MI bowlers. Dhoni tried to accelerate in 17th over but fell, Bravo was gone next ball and it was Raina who pushed through the score to 169 with some good bowling at the death
MI batted well without losing wickets and were well on course for victory with some good opening stand from SuryaKumar Yadav and Evin Lewis, SK Yadav was out in the 10th over, Evin Lewis was not comfortable at all with the wicket and was scoring the odd ones and twos, Rohit came in and started off very cautiously, Lewis was gone in the 17th over trying to accelerate, MI needed 42 runs in 23 deliveries, Hardik Pandya was promoted up the order, he did not disappoint by giving most of the strike to Rohit Sharma who took on the CSK death bowlers to task, he scored against Watson and Thakur to guide his team to victory, Rohit scored a captains knock when it was needed most giving a boost in confidence and moral for his team.
MI with the second win are back in the competition, how far are they going to go, your thoughts and comments?
