New Captain Shreyas Iyer with nerves of steel steers DD home, DD wining the second match of the season had a new captain with Gautam Gambhir stepping down as the captain and not playing in the playing eleven. It was a jammed packed stadium at the Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi and the new captain played a captains knock. DD made two changes with Amit Mishra and Colin Munro coming in for Jason Roy and Gautam Gambhir. Munro and Prithvi Shaw gave a good start scoring 57 runs in the powerplay, after the first wicket fall, Shreyas Iyer came in to bat and took no time in settling down. Shreyas was brutal to all KKR bowlers, he did not spare Narine the best KKR bowler either, hitting fours and sixes to bring the total to 219, Maxwell supported Shreyas very well on the other.
KKR started off on the wrong jorney, Chris Lynn was out second over to Maxwell, then Uttappa, Narine and Rana were gone inside powerplay, with 4-46 in 6th power, captain Dinesh Kartik and newcomer Shubman Gill let the revival scoring ones and twos but Dinesh Kartik fell early. Andre Russell the next man in and Shubman Gill took on the DD bowlers with Andre Russell hitting four sixes and three fours, KKR were on course to victory but Shubman Gill and Shivam Mavi were out in quick succession at the score of 141 in the 16th, with Andre Russell still at the crease KKR still had chances of winning, but a peach of a delivery from Avesh Khan got Andre Russell hit through his defenses which was turning point of the match. KKR could not recover that from that loss and finished at 164 for 9 in 20 overs.
Some breathtaking moments in the match at the finish of DD innings, the flurry of sixes from Shreyas and flamboyant batting from Andre Russell it was complete paisa vasool. Your thoughts ?
