Australia’s Cameron Bancroft admitted he tampered with the ball and captain Steve Smith said he planned in advance.
Smith mentioned: “We made a poor choice. We deeply regret our actions”. It was purely the players in the leadership group. “I can promise you it won’t happen again. We will move on from this and hopefully learn something fromy it. I’m embarrassed. I feel for Cam. It’s not what the Australian cricket team is about. I am incredibly sorry. Can we truly believe this ? to what extent will you go to win? Tampering the ball, sledging on the field, yelling on the spectators. Are these world world champions ? cheating and sledging will only take you low, what were you thinking ?
When the ball was thrown to him, television footage showed Bancroft take an object out of his pocket before rubbing the ball, then putting something back in his pocket. After footage of the incident was broadcast, a message appeared to be sent out to him on the field. He put the tape down the front of his trousers before being spoken to by on-field umpires Nigel Llong and Richard Illingworth.
Smith said that the Coaches weren’t involved and I doubt his words. It’s the first time this has happened and I doubt this as well. Cameron Bancroft is the scapegoat in this incident, I think the leadership including the head coach needs to be punished for bringing the game into disrepute. Your comments ?
It takes less time to do a thing right than to explain why you did it wrong.
