DD desperately needed a win to stay alive in this tournament, captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bat with two changes in the side bringing in allrounder Dan Christian and Naman Ojha(playing first match of this season) and SRH bring in Bhuvneshwar for Basil Thampi. DD opened the innings with Pritvi Shaw and the impatient Maxwell, again Maxwell could not contribute with the bat getting out in the second over, SS Iyer and Pritvi Shaw batted beautifully for the second wicket partnership of 90 runs in 10 overs falling prey to Rashid Khan, wicket conditions did not matter for Pritvi who scored 50 off 25 balls, SS Iyer played a supporting role and made sure his pressence was felt by SRH, despite the pitch conditions been damp, SRH bowlers varied lengths and bowled beautifully restricting DD to 163 when Pritivi was batting it looked DD would cross 200 but that did not happen.
SRH chasing the highest chase so far this season started off well with Alex Hales and Dhawan hitting the ball well, they took on the inexperienced Avesh Khan to task and hit him for 27 runs in one over before the end of powerplay but DD leg spinner Amit Mishra did well to hold the SRH batsmen without giving away any width creating pressure to take the two openers wickets, Christian and Plunkett also bowled well on the other end to keep the pressure. At the end of 15th over SRH needed 49 runs off 5 overs which seemed easy but some tight bowling from Boult and a wicket of Plunkett over seemed to apply the breaks on for SRH but Yusuf Pathan had other plans, he took on Boult in 19th over for 14 runs and sealed victory hitting 14 runs in the 20th over with a ball to spare. What a tense finish, Is Yusuf back in form?
With another victory for SRH and another Man of Match for Rashid Khan, they are sure favorites for playoffs, your thoughts?
